Halloween Ballroom Dance with the Del Bergeson Orchestra

The Del Bergeson Orchestra will provide music for the Halloween ballroom dance at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. The Del Bergeson Orchestra will provide music for the Halloween ballroom dance for the community at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, in the ballroom at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Road.

The Del Bergeson Orchestra is one of Chicagoland’s most popular Big Band entertainers.

Members of the orchestra are 25+ year music professionals, each with a deep passion for music and entertaining. Several members are music instructors teaching at the university level.

“The Timbers’ ballroom dances are filled with quality music and contagious energy,” said Shelly Goggins, activities director at The Timbers. “The orchestra plays everything from the traditional Big Band melodies to today’s contemporary pop and dance hits.”

“Music is the soundtrack of our lives,” Bergeson said.

Classical Pianist Floyd Andrew

Classical pianist Floyd Andrew performs at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. Classical pianist Floyd Andrew will perform for residents and the public at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, in the grand ballroom at The Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Rd.

Andrew has been playing the piano for more than 35 years. He combines his classical music training with a unique style that captures the hearts of his audience. Known as “Mr. Showman,” Andrew performs standards including Broadway show tunes, movie theme songs, nostalgic classics and music from times gone by with a perfected art form of glitter and glamour.

He has performed across the United States and Canada including at the Special Olympics and the Toronto Winter Fest. Andrew holds a Licentiate from Trinity College of Music in London, England.

Italian singer: Kym Frankovelgia

Italian singer Kym Frankovelgia will perfom at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. Italian singer Kym Frankovelgia will perform standards, jazz, Broadway and comedy at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.

Frankovelgia attributes her varied musical style to her humble beginnings as a singer in night clubs and on cruise ships. She has performed with renowned entertainers like Maxene Andrews from the Andrews Sisters and Allison McKay. Also, she has shared the stage with renowned big band orchestras such as the Sammy Kaye Orchestra and the Glenn Miller Band.

Although at one point she lived in Hawaii, her love of seasons drew her back to Illinois. After success both on the road and in recording studios, she has now tailored her talent specifically for private parties, seniors, social clubs and organizations.

Frankovelgia has a deep passion and respect for the music of a bygone era. Her renditions offer a modern twist to the classics from the 1920s through the 60s.

“(She is) born to entertain,” according to Mark Davis of the Chicago Tribune.

Frankovelgia performs hundreds of shows a year and recently released her latest album, “Bigger is Better.” Other albums include “The Secret of Christmas,” “One for the Road,” and the self-titled “Kym Frankovelgia.”

Ron & Sandie entertain

Vocalist duo Ron & Sandie will perform at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. Vocalist duo Ron and Sandie will perform “Sing and Swing,” a show for residents and the public at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in the ballroom at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.

Although Ron Camron and Sandie Triplett have only been performing together for a little over two years, they have become a new entertainment favorite among seniors and on the local entertainment circuit.

Their goal is to entertain with the best of song from swing, pop, Big Band and country music, as well as music of the 1950s and 1960’s rock’n’roll.

Camron, born and raised in Australia, began his musical career in 1959 as a member of a rock’n’roll band. After winning a trip around the world in a national singing contest in 1965, he began performing in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Chicago.

A Chicago native, Triplett met Camron through a mutual friend in 2010. She was impressed with Camron’s stage prescence. In turn, Camron felt Triplett was a force to be reckoned with, and the two decided to perform together exclusively. They have been gaining popularity ever since, and they currently perform over 200 shows a year.

Frank Rossi and Tim Skorupa entertain

Frank Rossi and Tim Skorupa perform at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. Frank Rossi and Tim Skorupa will entertain residents and the public at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26 at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.

Rossi plays a Roland RD 300 SX digital piano and both an Italo American and an Imperial accordion. He plays many solo jobs and also has his own jazz standard duo. His favorite accordion players are Manny Quartucci and Mike Alongi.

Named the 2010 recipient of the Order Sons of Italy Leonardo da Vinci Award of Excellence in Performing Arts, Rossi can be found performing in fine dining establishments around the Chicagoland area.

Skorupa will perform alongside Rossi on the drums and vocals.

Robbie Malkowski performs at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. Robbie Malkowski, a mezzo-soprano, will perform “Canteen Songs WWII” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 in the ballroom at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.

Malkowski’s repertoire includes Broadway tunes, movie theme songs and many favorites of stage and screen. Her music is from the 1930s through the 1960s, the decades when so many unforgettable songs were written.

Steve Askins sings songs of Yesteryear

Steve Askins performs songs of yesteryear at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. Steve Askins will perform at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, in the ballroom at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Road. This is a free event and is open to the public.

Askins started performing at the age of 14 and has continued for over three decades. Adept in a variety of musical styles, Askins’ dynamic and expressive vocal style and virtuosity on the guitar have earned him a positive reputation in northern and central Illinois.

His passion for the songs of yesteryear has led him develop a specialty for entertaining seniors throughout the Chicago land area by mixing classic greats with a modern edge. He combines his musicianship with humor to provide energetic and upbeat shows.

“Seniors really seem to appreciate hearing the music from the era that I call ‘Golden Years of American Popular Music,’ and it is so gratifying to see them singing and dancing and their toes tapping,” Askins said. “I specialize in programs for senior citizens and do nearly 300 shows per year.”

Chris Stapleton goes Country Western at the Timbers

Chris Stepleton will perform country classics at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community.Country western singer Christine Stapleton will entertain her audience, performing classic songs by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd.

Stapleton began singing 20 years ago at an office Christmas party. After her debut karaoke performance, at which she sang Patsy Cline’s “Crazy,” she continued singing karaoke for several years. Stapleton and her husband, Dan, now own a karaoke business called “Krazy Karaoke.”

A professional singer for the past six years, Stapleton has performed at the Grundy County Fair, the Grundy County Speedway and the Embassy Care Center in Wilmington.

The Chauffeurs: Rock ‘n Roll Music Review

The Chauffeurs will perform at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. The Chauffeurs will perform a rock ‘n roll music review for residents and the public in the piano lounge at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.

The band has been bringing the sounds of the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s to the stage for more than 12 years. Formed by Chicago area natives, Jim and Janice Hughes, the band regularly performs both in Illinois and Arizona. The winter months are spent in Arizona where the group can be found performing in festivals, carnivals, concerts in the park and well-known, fun restaurants. During the spring, summer and fall, they perform all over Chicagoland.

In addition to the bands’ founders, members are: Joe Smith on the drums, Bobby (Rex) Recchia on the lead guitar, Ray Ludkevicz on the bass and vocals and keyboard player Dan Boulous.

The audience is invited to dance and party the night away.
