‘Uncorked with Tom Connolly’

Comic, author and actor Tom Connolly will perform 'Uncorked with Tom Connolly' at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. Comic Tom Connolly will present a performance titled, “Uncorked with Tom Connolly,” at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd., Shorewood.

Connolly is a Chicago area actor, author and comic. His presentation takes a light-hearted look at being an Irishman, husband and father of four children.

After overcoming years of addiction and depression, Connolly is now focused on dispelling the myths behind these conditions and helping those in similar situations. His book “Soul Parole: Making Peace with my Mind, God and Myself” reflects his journey. In addition, proceeds benefit local addiction, homeless and mental health facilities.

Connolly’s passion for sharing laughter has included fundraisers for causes such as recovery, Lupus and MS. He has performed in comedy clubs such as Zanies as well as the infamous Stateville Prison as a member of the “Comedy Faith Outreach” program.

He has appeared in more than 25 TV series, movies and national commercials. He can be seen in the hit series NCIS, Vegas, Boss, Parks and Recreation, Mob Doctor and Chicago Fire.

The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.

Christine Stapleton sings Country Classics

Christine Stapleton sings country classics at the Timbers of Shorewood retirement community. Country western singer Christine Stapleton will entertain her audience, performing classic songs by Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at The Timbers of Shorewood, 1100 N. River Rd. This event is free and open to the public.

Stapleton began singing 20 years ago at an office Christmas party. After her debut karaoke performance, where she sang Patsy Cline’s “Crazy,” she continued singing karaoke for several years.

A professional singer for the past six years, Stapleton has performed at the Grundy County Fair, the Grundy County Speedway and the Embassy Care Center in Wilmington. Stapleton and her husband, Dan, now own a karaoke business called “Krazy Karaoke.”
